The seed thought for these meditations on hymns and relevant passages of Scripture came to me after realising the dangers of confusing our subconscious minds by singing hymns and parroting Bible passages without really meaning them. It was then the Lord laid it upon my heart to write these meditations. He showed me if I sang hymns or snatches of them throughout the day, my subconscious mind would be filled with these uplifting, constructive ideas, instead of the usual down-pull of negative fearful thoughts. The nudging of the Holy Spirit made it clear these thoughts were to be shared in the hope the Lord might bless others through the idea of starting each day “in Song and Scripture” – affirming and praying “flash prayers” throughout the day so that even in the midst of busy-ness, my thoughts would remain centred in Him.
