who we are

history

The ministry was founded by Anne S White in Florida, USA, after her own healing adventure in the healing of her son from asthma.

She writes: “For three long years, our five year old son had suffered from dreadful asthmatic attacks, and even a change of climate had brought no relief. During the most severe times of congestion, he had to be given shots of adrenalin to relieve his laboured breathing.” Her pediatrician told her that there was not much hope that her son would outgrow the disease.

She awoke at two one morning to hear her son’s laboured breathing. As she thought there was nothing she could do, she groaned inwardly. Then she heard a voice within her saying “Yes, there is. You can kneel down and pray. It is not My Will for an innocent child to suffer. It is your bitter resentment and you must forgive this person.”

As she prayed, her son took one deep, quiet breath – and never again had another asthmatic attack!

In 1969 she published her book ‘Healing Adventure’ outlining her experiences of healing and general teaching, a book which enabled her to become well known internationally.

In late 1970 a pilot school was held to train a few other key leaders. With her husband, Anne White founded Victorious Ministry Through Christ the next year, with the approval of her Bishop (Episcopalian).

In the early 1970′s doors opened for VMTC in England, Sweden, Finland and then in 1975 to Australia. In 1991 VMTC in New Zealand was established. Since then VMTC has reached into Papua New Guinea and Fiji. Current outreaches to the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Indonesia and India.

Various changes in the ministry itself have been made over the years. One recent change has been to change the description of our ministry from ‘Prayer Counselling’ to Prayer Ministry’, to emphasise that it is primarily a spiritual ministry.

In 1998, Anne S White’s biography of the work of VMTC, ‘Winning Victory in Spiritual Warfare’ was published, giving an excellent insight into Anne’s courage and openness to the Holy Spirit.

Anne S White died in January 2000, and the International Board now continues to meet under the Presidency of Rev Robert Horn.

what is VMTC?

VMTC Prayer Ministry is the ministry of Victorious Ministry Through Christ, an international and interchurch ministry founded over 25 years ago by Anne S. White.

It is a powerful tool for Christians:

* if you have come to a non-growth plateau in your Christian life
* if you struggle with personal ineffectiveness and defeat
* if you want to improve your relationships
* to bring healing and deliverance
* vital if you want to be effectively involved in spiritual warfare
* to encourage & equip you for ministry to others

Prayer Ministry aims to continue the ministry of Jesus: [Luke 4:18-19]

principles of VMTC prayer ministry

It is a simple and disciplined method that brings together ordinary biblical ministries to an individual. It is open to use the gifts of the Holy Spirit. (ref 1 Corinthians ch 12). It is a ministry of cleansing from sin, healing, deliverance and empowering by the Holy Spirit. It is not a new psychological method.

Prayer Ministry is always led by a trained male and female prayer minister. There may also be an intercessor as part of the session, who would be the same gender as the person being prayed with.

Prayer ministry is on an individual basis.

It is helping people to look at their whole life and to deal with root problems. For this reason prayer ministry may need a five hour session to complete. Further sessions may be helpful, but normally this would not be within a six month period, to allow putting into practice what has been achieved from the previous session.

Prayer Ministry is part of the local church, and never operates independently from it.

how does VMTC prayer ministry compare with other methods of prayer ministry?

There are other methods which are similar to this ministry. But VMTC Prayer Ministry is organised by an International Board to ensure that its thorough standards are kept high. It also ensures that prayer ministers are adequately trained before being released, and provides a team of people who can support each other and share together.

VMTC Prayer Ministry does not use secular methods of counselling, but seeks to minister to the whole person – spirit, mind and body – using the authority of God’s Word and being open to the power of God’s Spirit.

Prayer Ministry is not for crisis situations. It is not trying to put on a band aid, but to do a deep operation.

who can receive VMTC prayer ministry?

Those who wish to receive prayer ministry must have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour.

The effectiveness of VMTC Prayer Ministry does not depend on a method as much as your willingness to let the Holy Spirit deal with past sins and hurts.

Confidentiality
All sessions are kept totally confidential – with the exception of State Mandatory Reporting obligations. There are no written records of any sessions kept. All prayer ministers are themselves ministered to regularly, therefore they are totally non-judgmental of the person being ministered to, no matter what may come up in the session.

If you want to receive Prayer Ministry
If you want to receive prayer ministry, you may contact directly any released Prayer Minister who has trained with VMTC. The regions/contacts page on this site will enable you to start the process.

Some people are given an opportunity to receive prayer ministry at a training school (visiting just for the appointment) – because it helps to provide training for those in the school. Let us know if you are interested in this.

There is no charge for VMTC Prayer Ministry! All of those who are trained as prayer ministers do the ministry on a voluntary basis.
